We are organising an exciting new weekend trip, visiting historic sites from world wars 1 and 2 in France and Belgium. The trip will take place around the time of remembrance in November, and will provide Explorers with the opportunity to gain some perspective and depth of understanding on the events of 1914 – 1945.
Although the actual sites we visit are yet to be finalised, these will include sites related to both world wars, and may include visits to;
- Tyne Cot Cemetery; The largest commonwealth war cemetery in the world.
- Sanctuary Wood, Hill 62; Preserved British trenches.
- Menin Gate; The memorial to the missing.
- Dunkirk; Site of ‘Operation Dynamo’, evacuation of allied troops and war museum.
