2013 Hillwalking & Navigation Course

Over the course of next year, we will be offering explorers the opportunity to undertake their hillwalking badge. This badge requires a high level of navigation skill, and a number of days spent in the mountains.
This will include three day walks, and one weekend lightweight expedition wild camping in the Black Mountain area of the Brecon Beacons national park.
The dates set for the event are;

The complete cost of this event will be £85.00, which will include travel to and from each area, equipment & food for the lightweight weekend.
Due to safety regulations, we are only able to offer this course to 7 explorers, these place will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

Young Leaders Wanted for Beavers!

Corsham Beaver colony are currenly in need of some young leader support.
If you are a young leader, or would be interested in becoming a young leader and would like to help with Beavers in Corsham your help would be very much appreciated.
Beavers meet at Corsham HQ from 6.30pm – 7.15pm on Tuesdays.

Young Leader Module A Course

We will be running a Young Leaders Module A training course at Corsham Scout HQ on Thursday 29th November from 7.00pm – 9.00pm.
This course is compulsory for all young people aged 14 – 17 to complete if they are working with a younger section as a young leader.
This includes all explorer scouts young leaders and D of E volunteers.

Winter Camp!

Winter camp is a national event, a multi activity camp for explorers at Gilwell Park, national Scout HQ, in Chingford,
London. It will be taking place over the weekend of 11th – 13th January 2013, and it is expected around 2,500 explorers will be attending. We will be traveling by minibus, and camping as a unit. Visit the winter camp website to see the activities on offer.
As we will be camping in the Winter, we need to be prepared for the weather that we may be subjected to in
January. As such, if you choose to attend winter camp you will need to make sure you have at least a 4 season sleeping bag, insulated waterproof trousers and an insulated waterproof jacket.
The total cost of the event will be £65.00. This includes return transport to Gilwell Park by minibus, camping & event fees at Gilwell and all food. There is also an option to purchase an event T-Shirt for £7.00.

Christmas Party

This year our Christmas Party will be at Shaw Ridge Leisure Park in Swindon.
We will start with 2  Games of Laserquest, then will have a meal at Pizza Hut!
We will be meeting at Corsham Scout HQ at 1830hrs on Wednesday 19th December 2012, and we will return at approx. 2230hrs.
The cost will be £25.00 per person, to include travel to and from Swindon, laserquest and your meal & drinks in pizza hut.

Unit Notices

Remembrance Day Parade
This Sunday is Remembrance day. We will be attending the Corsham Remembrance parade on Sunday. The parade will meet in Corsham Co-op car park at 10am. We will parade to the town hall for a short service, then to the war memorial for 11am. The Parade will finish at the Royal British Legion at 12.45pm.
Explorers are expected to wear full and complete uniform. This is to include Ironed Shirt, Neckerchief & Woggle, Black Trousers and Polished Black Shoes.
 
Uniform
Over the past couple of months it has been noticed that certain members are not turning up to meetings in the correct uniform. We require that uniform is worn at the start and end of each meeting from the waist up.
You should therefore ensure that you turn up wearing the correct uniform to include your shirt, neckerchief and woggle.
If you have lost any of your uniform please download an order form from our website to replace it.
