Over the weekend of 28th – 30th October we will be undertaking a walking and expedition skills weekend in Dartmoor national park.
We will be staying in a camping barn, and will be walking on both the Saturday and Sunday. We will be using portable stoves for our meals and practicing navigation expedition skills.
This weekend will be of considerable benefit to those of you who are planning to undertake your Duke of Edinburgh’s award.
The total cost of the weekend will be £45.00 which will include any specialist equipment, transport to and from Dartmoor national park, all meals and accommodation.

Castle Combe Car Boot Sale – Sunday 11th September
This coming Sunday we will be parking cars and collecting the gate money for the car boot sale at castle combe race circuit. This is our main fundraiser of the year and we have potential to collect up to £1,200. This is only possible with your help. That is help from parents and explorers, who can help us direct traffic and collect the gate money. The boot sale will start at 7am, so an early start is needed. We would really appreciate your help from either 6.30am – 11.00 or from 11.00 – 14.30. If you are able to help for the whole day and would like a lift, this can be arranged. Please give me a call on the number below.
We thank you in advance for your assistance.
Sea Squad ESU – Activity for Wednesday 19th October 2011 – Lost!
Our weekly meeting on Wednesday 19th October will involve playing an overnight wide game called Lost!
Lost will test your ability to evade capture from a hunter force, make rational decisions, look after yourselves and navigate around the dark countryside. You will be taken to an undisclosed location, and will be expected to locate your position, and navigate through the night to a safe meeting point without getting caught. It will be a race against the other team to see who can get back first, but without getting captured!
After you have completed your task, you will return to the boathouse, where we will take supper and spend the night.
There will be no charge for this overnight event, but we will need to know how many of you will be attending in advance. You do not have to take part in the activity if you do not wish to.
